Writing Challenge Update, Week 5

Well this update is really not for a full week, in fact it is going to cover just the last four days. It is being released early, on Wednesday rather then Saturday, in conjunction with the overall final update. It was a rocky four days, but I did manage to get through to the end of the challenge, with some surprising results. Day 27 – Sunday 27th November – Today was one of my toughest days yet, with the challenge to get to 10,000 words over the weekend it was not easy trying to make up the almost 5,000 words. However I did get it done finally by the end of the day, only just scrapping in on time. I worked on quite a number of posts and projects today. Including a few posts that will make their way to this blog. One post for another blog that I am working on. Overall it was a challenging day, I had a lot of unproductive time in which I was trying to think or research or whatever for ideas on what to write. But in the end I made it. So total words for today come in at 4905, doubling the word goal and four posts published. This gives 16 points for the day and 10 bonus points for hitting the 10,000 word mark for the weekend. In fact I...

30 Day Writing Challenge Complete

Today Wednesday 30th November marks 30 Days since I started my Writing Challenge. Since this time when it comes to writing many things have changed for me. I have broken through quite a few marks that I never thought I would in the past 30 days, all in a positive way for this writing challenge. Either way there is a reasonable amount of information to cover today in regards to the actual goals of the challenge and what I actually achieved. I still start with the essentials and move onto some of the other achievements near the end. The Core Goal – Write 1,400 Words Per Day To put it simply, I achieved this 29 out of 30 days. The only day that I failed to write over 1,400 words was on Day 4 with just 781 words. This is from my point of view quite impressive. I have previously found it challenging to get through goals that I set like this, and would likely have dropped it at day four in the past when I failed. In fact this first failure after just four days is what I think really motivated me to make sure it worked for the rest of the month. Now there was an excuse for this failure, however I do not see it as a valid excuse for myself, as for the day overall...

The Lessons I Learned in 2011

At the beginning of 2011, I wrote a post very similar to this one, about The Lessons I learned in 2010. At that point in time, it was a post I really wanted to write, however it was also a post limited by a year that I only made good use of in the second six months. Now I am looking back at the year that I have just experienced and want to expand on two area’s. The first area is the lessons that I have learned in 2011, as there are a few. But I also want to look back at how some of the lessons I learned in 2010, have developed into greater lessons this year. You will also notice that I am sharing this a little bit earlier then the post for 2010 which I shared in January. This year I am sharing it earlier, because of one of the lessons I learned, and this exact process is a really good example of the lesson, so read on to find out more. Lesson 1: Travel Often, Near and Far Getting to see the world that we live in beyond the shore of where we live is a fantastic experience. The thing to remember is that you do not always have to cross oceans to have some of the most amazing experiences. Although it can still be...

Learning How To Write

Over the past few days I have really been thinking about my writing a lot. Obviously this month with the writing challenge things have been super heavily focused on writing for me. However in the last few days it has been even more t the front my mind. The thing that has really brought it up as such a heavy focus in the last few days is the challenges that I have been having actually thinking of topics that I can write about. Or as some people may call it writers block, which I do not think really is my problem, then again maybe it is. I the reading that I have been doing in a book I bought along with on the Internet there are a few things that come up over and over that may show me a path to better ability to write more easily when I want to, and I want to share these wit you today so that maybe you might gain something if you are having similar problems at all. Flow Of Consciousness Writing Different places called this different things, some as above while another called it The Morning Pages. Whatever you call it though it is sitting down with a blank piece of paper and pen or a blank document and just writing absolutely everything that comes to the forefront of your...

Writing Challenge update, Week 4

I have gone from strength to strength with this challenge, I started out fairly slow just trying to make the minimum words. and even missing one day. Where last week I broke that 20,000 word mark and now this week I have broken 2800 words every single day. While I am really getting through the challenge in problem at the moment, I am still left to wonder how I will go after the challenge is complete, something I guess only time will tell. Day 20 – Sunday 20th November – Today I had given myself a little extra challenge to make a writing goal of 10,000 points for the weekend, unfortunately I missed this, I have come in over 1000 short of that goal. Not to worry I got some good progress today with some work on a new published post for www.joebrown.com.au and also a random piece of work that came via inspiration. I got some work done on a new blog and a page and post published for that. I also started on a post that I really want to get done in the next day or two about the changes to my thinking throughout November. Things are happening, words are forming works some of which are being published the rest of which I hope to soon. So total words for today was 2833 which doubled the...
