Good morning from the other side of the pacific. I arrived in Los Angles around 6am local time, which put it at a little over 12.5 hours flight time. I didn’t get any sleep on the flight, and I am feeling pretty good. Next stop is Seattle.
Flying V Australia
Having never flown with one of the Virgin brand of airlines, this was going to be a first for me. First impressions were good. Which continued right throughout the flight. I would not hesitate to suggest that anyone flying from Australia choice V Australia if it is an available choice. There are a few reasons.
- Same service as Qantas, just a better price.
- Good Food, 3 choices for lunch, 2 choices at Breakfast and also multiple snack stops as well.
- In-flight entertainment system, was one of the better ones I have used, it was fast to load, and the touch screen was good. Only downfall here is a fairly basic route map option.
Overall V Australia will be my airline of choice for future trips to the USA.
Through the Airport
It took considerably longer getting through customs and baggage claim then last time. Although I think I would have been waiting for my bag anyway even if I got through customs quicker. This wasn’t a problem though, as initially my flight to Seattle was booked for 3.30pm. However through simply going to the check-in desk and asking I was able to get on a much earlier flight at 9.15am.
My choice of airlines previously in the US was more so dictated by price. However I came across something this time which I just could not pass up, a first class airfare for around $250, with Virgin America. Which once you allow for paid baggage, and food and drink in the flight only works out maybe twice the price of economy and you get almost twice as much legroom in a recliner seat.
Getting the earlier flight was better for getting into Seattle. At least it was daylight, which probably helped to keep me awake from the airport to the city.
As for the afternoon evening having that extra time I did not do much of interest, got some credit for my phone sorted. And got myself checked into the Hotel. Unfortunately no pictures today, however will try and get some in the next few days from Around Seattle. Also next flight I will try and get a picture of the First Class on Virgin America. Not something you can afford to do on every flight but, if it is a good price why not.
