Marketing Tips: The product photos
While it is important to show people what the product looks like in action. It can also be a good idea to show potential buyers pictures of the product itself. There are however some things to consider with photo’s of the product.
- Different Angles – Depending upon the product different angles will help to answer some user questions about your product. For example if you are selling a laptop, you would have a normal front on picture but it could be worth having other pictures that show the sides, front and back. This is so that users can see the different ports and features that are offered and where the connectors are located.
- Close up of Quality – If you are selling the quality of your product as one of the main points, then consider adding some close up images of the detail that shows this quality.
- Individual images – If you have multiple products in your range. It should be worth considering getting additional photo’s of the individual products. For example if you are selling chairs, and there are 4 different designs, show each design individually, the more things are split and individualized the less potential confusion is created.
- Thumbnail images - If you have a lot of images, which could happen for some of your products, it would be worth creating thumbnail images, so that site visitors are not waiting forever for the pictures to load and can choose which image to view.
A final note, while many vendors offer images of their products that you can use, if you have the opportunity, it can be best to try and get images of your own. This is a good idea for two reasons. The first is that you are showing off the best features that you are actually selling the product based on. Secondly, you are able to show your customers a unique view of the product, which they may not have seen before.
