While it is great to have pictures of your products on your website. You also have the opportunity, now to provide video’s of your product. While there have been companies that have been using video to promote their product for some time now, it is not to late to show off your products with video.
Just like you need to provide useful images of your product on your website, offering useful video will offer a similar effect. Some of the things that you should keep in mind are.
- Be Professional – Depending upon your product and how you are looking to offer it to your potential customers, remember to keep a similar level of professionalism. If you are selling a high dollar item to corporate clients, you should look to have a very professional and high quality video. While if you are selling accessories for RC cars to hobbyist, then you may be able to get away with something more amateurish, to help your potential customers relate.
- A suitable location – Just as important as the level of quality in the video is where you film the video. Getting a good location that works well with your product is very important. As above if you are selling a high dollar item then pick a location that matches it should be a quality location. Where as if you are selling those RC cars accessories then it may help to film in an area that you work on the hobby yourself.
- Showing accessories – If you decide to show accessories in a video, try to ensure that you make it clear they are accessories, which are extra. This does not need to be spoken you can edit in later text to the video. If you sell Widgets, and you show a Widget extended in the video, then edit in the text like “Widget extended is not part of the basic pack and is available for separate purchase”.
Video can be a very powerful medium to maximise what you want to show your potential customers about your product. However just creating a video at random, and not really providing something of value is going to probably cause more people to leave your site, then to purchase your product.
