There is no surprise that christmas time is coming, the decorations have been on display in stores for close to two months. The christmas carols are playing almost everywhere. What this means is usually the traditional mailing of a christmas card, which is still the more popular option for many people.
There is for some businesses a change happening, while they are not trying to reduce the cost of sending out christmas cards, some are looking for redistribute the cost from printing and mailing the cards to giving a donation to a local charity and sending out email seasons greetings. While some people will think that an email rather then an actual card is a great deal less christmas like, i find that it is actually a move in a good direction.
One of my suppliers has taken this path and have made a donation of $20,000 to charity rather then sending out a christmas card. So while some will just drop sending a card to save the cost some are truly trying to help by moving the cost to another more productive place.
If you consider personalised cards for a business may cost anywhere between $1 and $3 depending on quantity printed. Additionally postage is around 50cents a piece. It is not hard to quickly get up to $500 for only 100 or so clients, and well over $5,000 for 1000+ clients.
Making this change is also something that can greatly help you when you have no fixed office as the space to work on putting all these cards together may not be as readily available if you are working from a coffee shop or someplace similar.
